Business
Svitzer Group A/S, a Denmark-based global provider of towage and marine services, assists large seaborne vessels with berthing and unberthing, escort towage, manoeuvring, firefighting, line handling, jetty and buoy maintenance, waste management, ice breaking, oil boom deployment, emergency response, oil spill response, pilotage, personnel transfer, safety patrol and personnel recovery services; it operates harbour towage and terminal towage segments through a fleet of approximately 446 vessels serving around 2,000 customers in 141 ports and 40 terminals across 37 countries including key regions in Europe, the Americas, Australia and AMEA. Founded in 1833 and headquartered in Copenhagen, Denmark, the company employs more than 4,000 people and recently strengthened its Northern European presence by acquiring a 66.6% majority stake in Norway's Buksér og Berging AS in November 2025 to leverage shared expertise in towage, offshore and marine services while maintaining the target's standalone operations; it continues under significant influence from parent APMH Invest A/S following the 2024 demerger from A.P. Møller-Mærsk and subsequent buyback offers that delisted it from Nasdaq Copenhagen, alongside ongoing fleet investments such as new escort tugboats in Brazil and Canada, a global Ecotow decarbonisation agreement with Wallenius Wilhelmsen, and innovations like the TRAnsverse tug design.
