Business
Sizmek Inc. (SZMK) operates as a defunct independent ad tech company that previously provided digital advertising technology platforms and services to advertisers and agencies worldwide. Founded in 1999 and headquartered in New York, NY, with subsequent operations in Austin, TX, the company offered core products including the Sizmek MDX platform for online ad campaign management and distribution; ad serving solutions such as MediaMind; dynamic creative optimization (DCO) tools; programmatic managed services; data management for enhanced ad relevance; and AI-driven decisioning across campaigns, consumers, context, creative, and cost, serving over 20,000 advertisers and 3,600 agencies in more than 70 countries across the Americas, EMEA, and APAC. Sizmek filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in March 2019 amid heavy debt and integration challenges from prior acquisitions, including Rocket Fuel in 2017 for $145 million and its earlier purchase by Vector Capital in 2016 for $122 million; Amazon acquired its ad server and DCO assets out of bankruptcy for approximately $30 million in June 2019, rebranding them as Amazon Ad Server, which Amazon announced plans to sunset by the end of 2024.
