Business
AS Tallink Grupp is a leading provider of passenger and cargo transportation services in the Baltic Sea region, operating primarily between Estonia, Finland, and Sweden. The company owns and operates a fleet of 11 vessels under the brands Tallink Silja Line and Tallink Shuttle, offering a comprehensive range of services including mini-cruises, passenger ferry transport, ro-ro cargo shipping, and city-break travel packages. In addition to maritime transport, Tallink Grupp manages short- and long-term vessel chartering, operates four hotels in Tallinn and Riga, runs a restaurant recognized by the Michelin Guide, and maintains a travel retail business with shops onboard, onshore, and online. The company holds the franchise for the Burger King chain across the Baltic states and operates various leisure and transport-related subsidiaries across six EU countries, including Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Finland, Sweden, and Germany. Founded in 1994 and headquartered in Tallinn, Estonia, Tallink Grupp serves both leisure and business travelers, commanding approximately 40% of the passenger market share in the northern Baltic Sea area. Recent strategic developments include a focus on sustainability and fleet modernization, highlighted by a 2024 investment program involving vessel renovations such as the Baltic Princess and ESG initiatives like sourcing cage-free eggs. The company has streamlined its operations by reallocating resources away from lower-demand cargo ships and selling assets such as the Star I ferry, aligning with a strategic shift towards prioritizing profitable, demand-driven passenger services and premium market positioning. Despite economic headwinds affecting cargo volumes, Tallink Grupp pursues long-term resilience through enhanced service offerings, expansion of its customer loyalty program Club One to 3.4 million members, and continued route optimization. The company emphasizes high safety standards, environmental sustainability, and cost-efficient operations to maintain its market leadership and financial strength. AS Tallink Grupp is publicly listed on the Tallinn and Helsinki Stock Exchanges under the ticker TALLINK.HE.
