Business
Telecomunicações Brasileiras S.A. - Telebras (Telebras) operates as a Brazilian state-controlled telecommunications provider, specializing in multimedia communication services and infrastructure solutions. Founded in 1972 and headquartered in Brasília, the company delivers core products and services including Telebras SAT, a high-capacity satellite broadband service; IP Telebras, providing dedicated internet connections to schools, universities, hospitals, and public institutions; L3VPN-MPLS for virtual private networks; Point-to-Point (P2P) data transmission circuits at national, metropolitan, and regional levels; Wifi Brasil tailored for government contracts with the Ministry of Communications; Point-to-Point TX (clear channel) for high-capacity backbone infrastructure; and SD-WAN Telebras for software-defined private networks; as well as leasing of satellite capacity, optical cables, routers, and satellite infrastructure. Telebras maintains a nationwide fiber optic backbone network spanning approximately 22,480 km with up to 1.6 Tbps capacity, primarily deployed on power lines and gas pipelines, serving federal public administration, states, municipalities, non-profits, and private telecom operators across Brazil. In recent developments, Telebras reported net revenue of BRL 414 million for 2024, reflecting a slight decline of 0.6% from 2023 amid ongoing investments in digital infrastructure, with quarterly gross revenue reaching BRL 144.9 million in 4Q24, up 18.9% year-over-year, and cash reserves strengthening to BRL 339 million by September 2025. The company formed a strategic alliance with Telco Systems in early 2025 to enhance Brazil's digital transformation through advanced edge connectivity and managed services. Additionally, Telebras unveiled a new brand identity in 2025, aligning with consistent revenue growth and improved cash flow to support expanded broadband access under national policies like the National Broadband Program (PNBL).
