Business
Textainer Group Holdings Limited, through its various operational entities, engages in the procurement, ownership, active management, leasing, and ultimate disposition of an extensive worldwide fleet of intermodal containers. Its business operations are structured across three principal divisions: the direct Ownership of Containers, the comprehensive Management of Containers for diverse stakeholders, and the strategic Resale of Containers. The company's diverse inventory includes standard dry freight units, specialized dry freight solutions, and temperature-controlled refrigerated containers, in addition to other specific-purpose containers such as tank containers, 45-foot units, and pallet-wide designs. Textainer additionally delivers container management, acquisition, and disposal services to both affiliated and independent container investors. Furthermore, the organization participates in the sale of equipment from its existing fleet, alongside the acquisition, leasing, or resale of containers sourced from shipping line clients, container traders, and other market participants. As of May 2025, following its agreement to acquire Seaco, the combined enterprise is set to manage a substantial fleet exceeding 6.8 million twenty-foot equivalent units globally. The company primarily serves a broad base of international shipping lines, as well as freight forwarding enterprises and the U.S. military. Initially established in 1979, Textainer Group Holdings Limited maintains its headquarters in Hamilton, Bermuda. Notably, Textainer was acquired by Stonepeak, a prominent alternative investment firm, in March 2024, becoming a privately held entity, and subsequently announced the acquisition of Global Sea Containers Limited (Seaco) in May 2025 to further enhance its market presence and service capabilities.
