ROBO Global Artificial Intelligence ETF (THNQ) is an exchange-traded fund that tracks the ROBO Global Artificial Intelligence Index, providing investors with exposure to companies involved in the development of artificial intelligence technology and enabling infrastructure worldwide. Launched on May 11, 2020, and issued by Exchange Traded Concepts LLC, headquartered in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, the ETF holds approximately 56 equities across sectors including information technology, communication services, health care, and consumer discretionary; top holdings include Nebius Group N.V. (NBIS), Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (AMD), Alibaba Group Holding Limited (BABA), IonQ, Inc. (IONQ), and Lam Research Corporation (LRCX), with a focus on multi-cap companies in 16 countries spanning large-, mid-, and small-cap segments. The fund employs a modified AI-factor weighting scheme, rebalancing quarterly to capture shifts in the AI landscape while maintaining diversification and limiting reliance on mega-cap leaders; it invests at least 80% of its net assets in securities comprising the index or related depositary receipts, targeting growth-oriented firms in AI subsectors such as big data analytics, cybersecurity, semiconductors, cloud computing, and quantum computing. With assets under management of approximately $296 million and an expense ratio of 0.68%, THNQ serves institutional and retail investors seeking thematic exposure to the global AI value chain. In recent developments, the underlying ROBO Global index provider was acquired by VettaFi in April 2023, enhancing the suite's integration into broader indexing solutions tracking over $17 billion in assets and bolstering capabilities in robotics, automation, AI, and healthcare technology benchmarks; the ETF has also experienced portfolio adjustments from major acquisitions among holdings, including Splunk by Cisco in 2024 and Darktrace by Thoma Bravo earlier that year, reflecting heightened M&A activity in AI-related big data and cybersecurity segments. As of late 2025, THNQ achieved a new 52-week high amid strong AI sector momentum, with year-to-date gains exceeding 33% and a one-year total return of nearly 47%, driven by investor optimism around AI infrastructure demand and supportive monetary policies.
