- Northern Trust 2030 Inflation-Linked Distributing Ladder ETF (TIPA) is an actively managed exchange-traded fund that seeks to provide periodic inflation-linked distributions through a ladder of U.S. Treasury Inflation-Protected Securities (TIPS), consisting of monthly income and annual principal distributions through 2030. The fund holds a diversified portfolio of investment-grade TIPS with staggered maturities, offering inflation protection and cash flow management for investors pursuing a spend-down strategy over a five-year horizon; it features a low expense ratio of 0.10% and distributes ordinary income. Launched in August 2025 as part of Northern Trust Asset Management's inaugural suite of Northern Trust ETFs, TIPA complements related Inflation-Linked Distributing Ladder ETFs including TIPB (2035 maturity), TIPC (2045 maturity), and TIPD (2055 maturity).
Northern Trust Asset Management, the fund sponsor, operates as the investment management arm of Northern Trust Corporation, a financial services firm founded in 1889 and headquartered in Chicago, Illinois. The firm provides asset management, asset servicing, wealth management, and banking services to institutional investors, corporations, and high-net-worth individuals globally, with operations across 24 U.S. states, Washington, D.C., and 22 international locations in Canada, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific. Northern Funds Distributors LLC serves as the distributor for TIPA and related products.
In a major strategic expansion, Northern Trust Asset Management launched 11 fixed-income ETFs in August 2025 under the new Northern Trust ETFs brand, including three suites of distributing ladder strategies: Inflation-Linked (TIPA, TIPB, TIPC, TIPD), Tax-Exempt (MUNA, MUNB, MUNC, MUND), and Tax-Exempt Bond Index (TAXS, TAXI, TAXT); this initiative leverages patent-pending technology for retirement decumulation, tax efficiency, and inflation hedging. The rollout marks Northern Trust's entry into targeted ETF solutions derived from client insights, building on over 30 years of municipal bond management expertise. FlexShares ETFs, previously managed by Northern Trust, will transition to the Northern Trust ETFs brand in 2026.
