Business
Just Eat Takeaway.com N.V. (TKWY.AS) operates as a leading global online food delivery marketplace, connecting consumers with local partners including restaurants, grocery stores and retail outlets through proprietary apps and websites. The company offers on-demand delivery services for a wide range of products such as meals from independent takeaways and chains; groceries; convenience items including flowers, toys and gifts through partnerships like Interflora, Toys"R"Us, the LEGO Group and Card Factory; and rapid delivery options for health and beauty products via Superdrug and Tesco Whoosh in select markets. It serves customers primarily in Europe including the UK, Germany, the Netherlands, and others; Canada via SkipTheDishes; and previously Israel and Australia, with brands encompassing Thuisbezorgd.nl, Lieferando, Pyszne.pl, Menulog and 10bis. Founded in 2000 as Thuisbezorgd.nl by Jitse Groen and headquartered in Amsterdam, Netherlands, the company rebranded to Takeaway.com in 2011, went public on Euronext Amsterdam in 2016, and merged with Just Eat in 2020 to expand its scale across 17 countries with over 360,000 partners. Recent major developments include its acquisition by Prosus N.V. in a EUR 4.1 billion all-cash deal completed on January 7, 2025, resulting in delisting from Euronext Amsterdam on November 17, 2025, cessation of Menulog operations in Australia on November 26, 2025, a successful tender offer for over 98% of bonds repurchased in October 2025, and a leadership transition on December 2, 2025, with founder-CEO Jitse Groen stepping down to be succeeded by Roberto Gandolfo as the company integrates under Prosus ownership to accelerate growth through technology investments and operational efficiencies.
