First Trust Exchange-Traded Fund VIII - FT Vest Emerging Markets Buffer ETF - March is an actively managed, non-diversified exchange-traded fund that seeks to provide investors with exposure to the price performance of the iShares MSCI Emerging Markets ETF, subject to a predetermined upside cap and a targeted downside buffer over approximately annual March-to-March outcome periods. The Fund, which commenced operations on March 21, 2025, is a series of First Trust Exchange-Traded Fund VIII and trades principally on Cboe BZX under the ticker symbol TMAR. It invests substantially all of its assets in customized, exchange-traded Flexible Exchange Options, including purchased and written call and put options, referencing the iShares MSCI Emerging Markets ETF; these instruments are designed to deliver the underlying ETF’s price return up to the applicable cap while seeking to absorb the first 10% of underlying ETF losses before fees and expenses for investors holding shares for the complete target outcome period. The underlying ETF provides exposure to large- and mid-capitalization equity issuers across global emerging markets and generally tracks the MSCI Emerging Markets Index. The Fund does not provide direct ownership of the underlying ETF’s portfolio securities and does not seek to reflect underlying ETF dividend payments. First Trust Advisors L.P., headquartered in Wheaton, Illinois, serves as investment adviser, while Vest Financial LLC serves as investment sub-adviser; First Trust Portfolios L.P., an affiliate of the adviser, distributes Fund shares. The Fund markets its shares to U.S. investors, financial advisers, broker-dealers and institutional investors seeking defined-outcome emerging-markets equity exposure through an exchange-traded vehicle. Its principal services comprise intraday exchange-traded liquidity; creation and redemption of shares in Creation Units through authorized participants; and a target-outcome strategy that establishes a new cap and resets its options portfolio at the beginning of each annual outcome period. In its latest material operational change, the Fund reset its target outcome period on March 23, 2026, establishing a 29.55% starting cap and a buffer designed to absorb losses from 0.00% to -9.99%, before fees and expenses, through March 19, 2027; the remaining cap and investor-specific outcome potential vary during the period based on the Fund’s market value and the timing of share purchases. The Fund charges a 0.95% annual management fee and remains perpetually offered, resetting its FLEX Options portfolio and outcome parameters annually rather than terminating at the conclusion of an outcome period.
