Business
VAT Group AG develops, manufactures, and sells high-performance vacuum valves, multi-valve modules, motion components, and edge-welded metal bellows primarily for the semiconductor, flat panel display, photovoltaic, vacuum coating, industrial, and research industries. Its core products include vacuum valves and modules designed to control vacuum processes with high reliability and precision in semiconductor manufacturing equipment, alongside comprehensive global service offerings for maintenance and optimization. The company operates two main segments: Valves, serving wafer fabrication equipment producers globally, and Global Service, providing after-sales services. VAT Group is headquartered in Solothurn, Switzerland, and operates manufacturing and research facilities across Europe, the United States, and Asia. Founded in 1965, VAT Group continues to advance its technology leadership with a strong focus on innovation, investing CHF 61 million in R&D in 2024, a 13% increase year-over-year, to develop next-generation vacuum solutions and adjacent product portfolios. In recent years, VAT has expanded its production capacity with new facilities, including a dedicated European production site in Haag, Switzerland, and commenced construction of a new factory in Romania to support growing demand. The company experienced significant growth in 2024 with order intake rising 49% to CHF 1,033 million, driven primarily by an 84% increase in semiconductor-related orders, and net sales increasing 6% to CHF 942 million highlighting a recovery in the semiconductor market. Recent strategic changes include strengthening its market position through 132 specification wins expected to fuel sales over the next three to five years, and continuing expansion of its Asian and global footprint to secure supply chain resilience amid geopolitical challenges. VAT's CEO has articulated confidence in achieving their original revenue target of CHF 1.5 billion by leveraging innovation and increasing tool share, despite external export restrictions. The company serves major markets globally, with Asia accounting for 67% of exports, followed by the USA at 19%, and EMEA regions. VAT Group maintains strong partnerships with key semiconductor manufacturers, positioning itself as a critical supplier in high-vacuum applications essential for advanced chip production.
