Business
VIGO Photonics S.A. (WSE: VGO) develops and manufactures mid-infrared (mid-IR) semiconductor lasers and photonic integrated circuits (PICs) for gas sensing, spectroscopy, and free-space communications. The company offers products including continuous wave (CW) and pulsed distributed feedback (DFB) diode lasers, quantum cascade lasers (QCLs), interband cascade lasers (ICLs), superluminescent diodes (SLDs), and swept wavelength lasers; it also provides custom optoelectronic design services, laser bars, and modules tailored for industrial, medical, environmental monitoring, and defense applications [ from previous context]. Headquartered in Warsaw, Poland, and founded in 2013, VIGO Photonics operates primarily in Europe with global customer reach through subsidiaries and distribution networks in North America and Asia. In late 2024, the company completed a strategic acquisition of a key mid-IR component supplier to expand its PIC production capacity; it also announced a PLN 50 million funding round led by European photonics investors to accelerate QCL commercialization and entered a partnership with a major defense contractor for integrated laser systems. These moves support VIGO's expansion into high-volume markets like methane detection for oil & gas and breath analysis for healthcare, positioning it as a leader in compact, high-performance mid-IR photonics.
