Business
Vidrala, S.A. is a Spanish-based company specializing in the design, manufacture, and sale of glass containers for food and beverage products. The company's core products include glass bottles and jars for beverages such as beers, sparkling wine, cider, spirits, wines, juices, as well as containers for oils, vinegar, and preserved foods. In addition to manufacturing, Vidrala provides a range of packaging services including logistics solutions and beverage filling activities. It operates nine glass manufacturing plants located in Iberia, the United Kingdom & Ireland, and Brazil, serving more than 1,600 customers globally. Founded in 1965, Vidrala is headquartered in Laudio/Llodio, Spain. In terms of recent major changes, Vidrala completed the full acquisition of the Brazilian glass container manufacturer Vidroporto S.A. in 2023 for approximately €384 million, marking a strategic expansion into the Latin American market. This acquisition supports Vidrala's long-term growth strategy by diversifying its business geographically and strengthening alliances with key customers. Additionally, the company divested its Italian operations in 2024 to refocus on its three core regions: Iberia, the UK & Ireland, and Brazil. Vidrala also launched new lightweight glass bottles under its BD VIVA LITE range in 2024 and 2025, which significantly reduce raw material usage and carbon emissions, reflecting a strong commitment to sustainability and product innovation. Vidrala's business segments target food and beverage producers across Europe and Latin America, with a distribution footprint covering the United Kingdom, Ireland, Iberian Peninsula, Italy (until divestment), and Brazil. The company emphasizes sustainable packaging solutions and operational efficiency, combining advanced manufacturing with integrated services to meet evolving customer needs and regulatory landscapes. Its strategy includes ongoing investments in industrial modernization and vertical integration, and active exploration of selective smaller acquisitions to reinforce its market position in core regions. Vidrala maintains a disciplined financial approach aimed at sustainable long-term growth and value creation for shareholders.
