- Vicinity Motor Corp. (TSX-V: VMC) designs, manufactures and distributes zero-emission and clean-energy transit buses and trucks for public and commercial use in North America; its core products include the Vicinity Classic low-floor diesel and CNG buses in 27.5-foot, 30-foot and 35-foot lengths, the Vicinity Lightning EV 28-foot electric bus, the VMC 1200 Class 3 to 5 electric truck, and related spare parts and customized transportation solutions. Founded in 2008 and headquartered in Aldergrove, British Columbia, Canada, the company formerly known as Grande West Transportation Group Inc. changed its name in March 2021 and established assembly operations including a facility in Ferndale, Washington; it targets transit agencies, municipalities, shuttle services and private fleets through partnerships such as with Alliance Bus Group in the US and Optimal-EV for shuttle buses. In late 2024, Vicinity entered receivership following a court order after defaulting on over $22 million in loans to Royal Bank of Canada, with its auditor resigning, NASDAQ delisting occurring, trading halted by regulators and assets subsequently acquired by Raeda Dynamics Inc., marking a major operational restructuring.
