Business
5N Plus Inc. 5N Plus Inc. (TSX:VNP), a leading global producer of specialty semiconductors and performance materials, develops and manufactures ultra-pure metals, compounds, and advanced materials that serve as core components in customers' products across renewable energy, security, space, pharmaceutical, medical imaging, industrial, and additive manufacturing sectors; its offerings include semiconductor compounds such as cadmium telluride (CdTe) and epitaxial substrates, semiconductor wafers and solar cells, specialty alloys and engineered powders, active pharmaceutical ingredients, animal feed additives, specialized chemicals, and recycling services. Headquartered in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, and founded in 2000, the company operates R&D, manufacturing, and commercial facilities in North America (including the United States), Europe (primarily Germany), and Asia (China and Hong Kong), employing over 800 people worldwide. 5N Plus Inc. maintains a vertically integrated supply chain with a focus on sustainability, circular economy principles, and proprietary technologies to enable performance in thin-film photovoltaics, medical diagnosis, power generation, and high-power electronics applications. In August 2025, the company scaled up and expanded its critical materials supply agreement with First Solar First Solar, Inc., increasing cadmium telluride production and delivery by 33% for 2025-2026 and extending terms through 2027-2028 to support U.S. solar manufacturing growth. In March 2025, through its subsidiary AZUR SPACE Solar Power GmbH, 5N Plus Inc. partnered with ALLOS Semiconductors to commercialize its GaN power electronics IP portfolio in exchange for future royalties, allowing focus on core operations while retaining upside in high-power electronics and micro-LED markets. In November 2025, Richard Perron assumed the additional role of President alongside his CFO duties, positioning him as incoming President and CEO by May 2026 as part of executive succession planning.
