- Wendt (India) Limited manufactures superabrasives, high-precision grinding tools, machines and precision components for industries including automotive, auto-ancillaries, cutting tools, steel, bearings, aerospace, glass, ceramics and refractories. The company produces diamond and CBN grinding wheels, segments, rotary dressers, honing stones and dressing tools; vitrified bond wheels, resin bond wheels such as Chatur resin wheels and hybrid wheels; electroplated bond products including files and wheels; lapping compounds and polishing films; precision grinding machines such as cylindrical, surface, CNC rotary surface grinders, wheel profiling machines and honing machines; and allied products including coolants and flocking materials. Headquartered in Hosur, India, and founded in 1980 as a joint venture between Wendt GmbH and The House of Khataus, Wendt (India) operates primarily in India with a wholly owned subsidiary, Wendt Grinding Technologies Limited, in Thailand, and serves over 750 direct customers through application-oriented sales engineers across major industrial cities. In April 2025, the company completed a trademark assignment agreement with Wendt GmbH, acquiring absolute ownership of the Wendt brand and over 60 trademarks in 40 countries for approximately 3.8 million euros; it incorporated a wholly owned subsidiary, Wendt GmbH, in Germany in July 2025 with initial capital of 0.55 million euros to expand in Europe; and following Wendt GmbH's divestment by May 2025, Carborundum Universal Ltd holds 37.5% stake with public shareholders at 62.5%. Recent product launches include Precigrind-AWH 250, WRS NH, Opera 200, Delta 150 and 250 models, alongside expansions in precision dressing rolls manufacturing facility and specialised training programs with international exposure in Germany. The company, part of the Murugappa Group through Carborundum Universal, reported superabrasives sales growth of 7% to Rs 140.54 crore in FY2024 and pursues overseas distributor onboarding in automobile, steel and engineering sectors.
