- AXS Esoterica NextG Economy ETF (WUGI) is an actively managed exchange-traded fund that seeks capital appreciation by investing in equities of companies benefiting from next-generation (NextG) technologies, including 5G cellular networks, advanced semiconductors, edge computing, cloud-native software, and related enabling technologies; it provides exposure to U.S. and non-U.S. companies across all market capitalizations in sectors such as communication services, information technology, software, internet services, and wireless telecommunications. The fund employs a fundamental and quantitative investment approach with top-down thematic research and bottom-up stock selection to identify high-conviction opportunities in infrastructure supporting 5G networks, edge devices connecting local and wide-area networks, and services enabled by 5G proliferation like video streaming, cloud gaming, autonomous driving, augmented reality, virtual reality, Internet of Things, and remote surgery. Launched with an inception date of March 30, 2020, and traded on the Cboe BZX exchange under ticker WUGI, the ETF is issued through Investment Managers Series Trust II, with portfolio management provided by Esoterica Capital LLC—an investment firm specializing in the digital economy with teams based in the U.S. and China—and co-managed by AXS Investments LLC; its net expense ratio stands at 0.75% through July 31, 2026, following contractual fee waivers. In a significant reorganization completed on December 16, 2022, the fund succeeded the original Esoterica NextG Economy ETF, acquiring its assets and liabilities while retaining the WUGI ticker symbol, which enhanced its operational structure under AXS Investments oversight.
