Business
Resonac Holdings Corporation, founded in 1939 and headquartered in Tokyo, Japan, operates as a global chemical company specializing in advanced materials for semiconductors, electronics, mobility, innovation-enabling applications, and basic chemicals. The company manufactures and supplies a diverse portfolio of products, including high-purity gases, solvents, CMP slurries, and anti-charging materials for semiconductor frontend processes; semiconductor-related materials and display materials for backend processes; base and photosensitive materials for printed wiring boards; components such as hard disks, SiC, and optical semiconductors for electronic devices; molded plastics, sheet-formed products, powder metal products, and aluminum products for automotive applications; lithium-ion battery materials and carbon products; innovation materials like ceramics, functional resins, chromatography products, functional monomers, resins, adhesives, and tapes; basic chemicals, industrial gases, elastomers, and cosmetic ingredients; and graphite electrodes. Resonac conducts operations across Japan, China, the rest of Asia, North America, and Europe, serving markets in mobile devices, data centers, electric vehicles, IT infrastructure, advanced driver assistance systems, healthcare, and environmental sustainability. In recent developments, Resonac formed the JOINT3 consortium in 2025 with 27 global firms to advance panel-level organic interposers for semiconductor packaging and launched a prototype production facility at its Advanced Level Inter Center. The company received the 2025 TSMC Excellent Performance Award for contributions in advanced packaging materials and high-purity gas localization; partnered with Lotte for chemical recycling of used plastic packaging via gasification, targeting full-scale operations in October 2025; and signed an MOU with Axiom Space for space-based semiconductor manufacturing. Additionally, Resonac sold its UK subsidiary F2 Chemicals Ltd. to Rcapital Partners on June 30, 2025; transferred its automotive molded parts business in Japan and Thailand to Moriroku via absorption-type split announced September 24, 2025; initiated rationalization measures for its graphite electrode business on December 1, 2025; and plans strategic acquisitions in semiconductors following debt reduction, including potential opportunities around JSR. These initiatives reflect Resonac's focus on high-growth areas like semiconductors and sustainability amid ongoing portfolio optimization.
