Business
Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings, Inc. (AAWW) is a leading provider of outsourced aircraft and aviation operating services to customers including airlines, express operators, e-commerce companies, freight forwarders, charter brokers, global shippers and the U.S. military. The company, founded in 1992 and headquartered in Purchase, New York, operates primarily through subsidiaries Atlas Air and Polar Air Cargo, which provide aircraft crew, maintenance and insurance (ACMI) and crew, maintenance and insurance (CMI) services; commercial and military charter flights; and dry-leasing of freighter aircraft via its joint venture Titan Aircraft Investments with Bain Capital. Its fleet consists predominantly of Boeing widebody freighters including 747-400F/8F, 777F and 767-300F models, as well as Boeing 737-800F and passenger-configured 747s and 767s for specialized operations, supporting cargo types such as e-commerce parcels, perishables, pharmaceuticals, heavy machinery and humanitarian aid; the company conducts business across Africa, Asia, Europe, the Middle East, North America and South America, serving more than 70 countries and approximately 450 airports. Atlas Air Worldwide was taken private in March 2023 through an acquisition by an investor group led by Apollo Global Management alongside J.F. Lehman & Company and Hill City Capital. Recent developments include the September 2025 launch of Titan Aircraft Investments II with Bain Capital, backed by a $410 million capital commitment to expand freighter leasing; new long-term partnerships with Etihad Cargo in August 2025 for dedicated Boeing 777 freighter capacity and with Turkish Cargo in May 2025; and the November 2025 sale of two Boeing 737-800SF aircraft by Titan Aviation Leasing to ST Engineering.
