Business
ADNOC Gas plc is an integrated natural gas processing, fractionation, transmission, and marketing company operating across the upstream-to-downstream gas value chain. Established in 2023 through the consolidation of the gas processing and liquefied natural gas operations of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), the company is headquartered in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, and operates as a majority-owned subsidiary of ADNOC. ADNOC Gas processes raw and sour natural gas feedstock extracted from onshore and offshore fields to supply domestic utility and industrial sectors and export markets worldwide. The company's core product and service portfolio comprises sales gas (processed pipeline natural gas supplied to electric utilities, water desalination plants, and domestic heavy industries); liquefied natural gas (LNG cryogenically cooled and liquefied for international maritime export); natural gas liquids (NGLs), including ethane supplied as petrochemical feedstock, as well as propane and butane marketed as liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) for domestic, commercial, and industrial fuel applications; associated liquid hydrocarbons, including paraffinic naphtha and condensate delivered to refining and petrochemical complexes; industrial gases, including gaseous and liquid nitrogen, oxygen, and argon for industrial manufacturing, refining, and metals production; chemical byproducts, primarily granulated sulfur recovered during gas sweetening processes for agricultural fertilizers and chemical manufacturing; and midstream infrastructure services, including natural gas transmission, pipeline compression, and fractionation. The company operates major processing complexes and fractionation plants across the United Arab Emirates, including sites at Habshan, Bab, Asab, Bu Hasa, and Das Island, supplying approximately 60 percent of the United Arab Emirates domestic gas demand and serving international customers across more than 20 countries in Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. In recent strategic developments, ADNOC Gas has expanded its operations, infrastructure, and commercial agreements. The company manages the development, construction, and global volume marketing of the 9.6 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) low-carbon Ruwais LNG export project on behalf of ADNOC, with a planned transaction to acquire ADNOC’s 60 percent equity stake in the facility at cost (estimated at approximately 5 billion dollars) in the second half of 2028. To support Ruwais LNG feedstock supply, ADNOC Gas awarded 2.1 billion dollars in engineering, procurement, and construction contracts in early 2025 for gas pre-conditioning units, compression facilities, and pipeline interconnects. Internationally, the company secured major long-term export contracts, including a 15-year sales and purchase agreement with Indian Oil Corporation for 1.0 mtpa of LNG from Ruwais following an earlier 14-year agreement for 1.2 mtpa from Das Island, a three-year 450 million dollar LNG supply agreement with Japan’s JERA Global Markets, and a three-year 400 million dollar supply agreement with Germany’s SEFE (Securing Energy for Europe). Domestically, ADNOC Gas signed a 20-year, 3.5 to 4.2 billion dollar supply agreement with EMSTEEL to deliver lower-carbon natural gas starting in 2027 and transferred asset ownership of the ESTIDAMA pipeline network enhancement program to parent company ADNOC to optimize capital efficiency while continuing to operate and maintain the expanded 3,500-kilometer national pipeline grid.
