Bank of Sharjah PJSC is a United Arab Emirates-based financial institution that provides commercial, corporate, investment, and private banking services to corporate entities, financial institutions, small and medium-sized enterprises, and individual clients. Established in 1973 by Emiri decree as the first commercial bank founded in the Emirate of Sharjah, the bank is headquartered in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, and operates a network of branches across the UAE alongside international banking operations in Lebanon through its subsidiary, Emirates Lebanon Bank S.A.L. The bank operates across four principal business segments: Corporate and Institutional Banking, Retail Banking, Treasury and Investments, and International Banking. The institution provides a comprehensive suite of banking and financial products and services, including corporate lending facilities such as term loans, working capital financing, project and structured finance, syndicated loans, overdraft facilities, and asset-backed financing; trade finance instruments comprising commercial letters of credit, standby letters of credit, performance and financial guarantees, bills for collection, export credit facilities, and invoice discounting; liquidity and cash management solutions consisting of corporate current accounts, call accounts, escrow management, automated clearing house payment processing, and corporate payroll administration; retail banking products including savings accounts, demand deposits, high-yield fixed-term deposits, residential mortgages, personal loans, auto loans, and premium credit, debit, and prepaid payment cards; wealth management and private banking services covering customized portfolio advisory, custody solutions, and bespoke investment strategies; treasury and capital markets solutions encompassing foreign exchange spot, forward, and swap contracts, interest rate derivatives, liquidity placements, money market operations, and fixed income debt securities trading; and Sharia-compliant Islamic banking products offered under Murabaha, Ijara, and Mudaraba principles. In recent developments, Bank of Sharjah has been executing a comprehensive multi-year strategic transformation program focused on expanding its corporate and institutional client franchise across the UAE and the wider Gulf Cooperation Council region, modernizing its operating infrastructure, and optimizing its capital structure. Under restructured executive leadership, the bank completed a 500 million US dollar senior unsecured bond issuance under its Euro Medium Term Note programme to strengthen its long-term liquidity profile and diversify its institutional investor base. The bank has also accelerated its digital transformation strategy by launching upgraded corporate online banking and transaction platforms, introducing digital onboarding capabilities for commercial clients, and establishing strategic technology partnerships to expand digital payment and cash management channels. In addition, the institution has actively enhanced its balance sheet management through targeted loan portfolio de-risking and capital redeployment into high-growth commercial sectors and regional sustainable financing initiatives.
