- Fertiglobe plc is an Abu Dhabi-based producer and global exporter of nitrogen fertilizers, merchant ammonia, and low-carbon chemical solutions. Founded in 2019 and headquartered in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, the company operates as a key chemicals subsidiary of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) and trades publicly on the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange under the ticker FERTIGLB. Fertiglobe operates four primary production platforms across three countries: the Fertil facility in the United Arab Emirates; Egyptian Fertilizer Company (EFC) and Egyptian Basic Industries Corporation (EBIC) in Egypt; and the Sorfert joint venture facility in Algeria. These assets afford a combined gross production capacity of approximately 6.6 million metric tons of urea and merchant ammonia annually, supported by direct access to maritime export infrastructure on the Arabian Gulf, the Red Sea, and the Mediterranean Sea to serve agricultural and industrial customers throughout Europe, the Americas, Asia-Pacific, and Africa.
The company manufactures, markets, and distributes a comprehensive portfolio of nitrogen-based products and related services, including: agricultural crop nutrition products, comprising standard and high-grade granular urea engineered for soil enrichment and agricultural productivity; merchant ammonia, consisting of anhydrous ammonia supplied as an essential chemical feedstock for downstream fertilizers, industrial chemicals, plastics, resins, and synthetic fibers; low-carbon and renewable ammonia, developed for emerging energy transition applications such as zero-carbon marine fuel, power generation, and clean hydrogen transport; environmental emissions abatement solutions, including Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) and aqueous urea solutions designed to reduce nitrogen oxide emissions in heavy-duty diesel engines; and downstream agricultural distribution logistics, offering bulk handling, coastal storage, blending, and direct-to-farm supply chain services.
In recent corporate developments, ADNOC finalized the acquisition of OCI Global's entire 50% plus one share equity holding in Fertiglobe in October 2024 for approximately 3.62 billion USD, raising ADNOC's ownership stake to 86.2% and establishing Fertiglobe as ADNOC's primary global vehicle for nitrogen and low-carbon ammonia growth. Strategically advancing its clean energy portfolio, Fertiglobe was selected in July 2024 as the sole winning supplier in Europe's inaugural H2Global auction to deliver up to 397,000 metric tons of renewable ammonia from Egypt to European markets starting in 2027. Additionally, Fertiglobe is progressing construction on a 1.0 million metric tons per annum low-carbon ammonia facility in the TA'ZIZ industrial ecosystem in Al Ruwais, United Arab Emirates. Expanding its downstream commercial footprint, the company completed the acquisition of Wengfu Australia's fertilizer distribution assets in 2025, establishing Fertiglobe Australia Pty Ltd to integrate import, warehousing, and wholesale distribution networks across the Asia-Pacific agricultural market.
