Business
Orascom Construction PLC is a global engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractor and infrastructure developer specializing in large-scale infrastructure, industrial, commercial, and concessions projects. Founded in 1950 and headquartered in the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), United Arab Emirates, with operational management based in Cairo, Egypt, the company delivers integrated engineering, construction, and facility management solutions across the Middle East, Africa, and the United States. The company operates through three principal business segments: Infrastructure and Industrial, Commercial and Institutional, and Building Materials and Services. The company provides a comprehensive portfolio of construction and engineering services alongside specialized building materials: infrastructure development, encompassing high-speed rail systems, light rail transit, monorails, metro networks, highways, bridges, airports, and marine ports; power generation and energy transition, comprising conventional combined-cycle power plants, utility-scale wind farms, solar photovoltaic installations, and green hydrogen power infrastructure; water and wastewater management, including seawater reverse osmosis desalination facilities, water purification plants, and large-scale agricultural drainage water treatment facilities; industrial contracting, covering petrochemical complexes, nitrogen fertilizer plants, cement manufacturing facilities, LNG terminals, and heavy industrial installations; commercial and institutional construction, comprising data centers, mission-critical facilities, healthcare complexes, educational institutions, government administrative centers, and cultural landmarks; building materials manufacturing and fabrication, including structural steel through National Steel Fabrication (NSF), precast concrete, architectural curtain walling, and industrial coatings; and long-term operation, maintenance, and asset management services for transportation networks, utility plants, and public-private partnership (PPP) concessions. In the United States, the company executes commercial, industrial, and federal infrastructure contracts through its wholly owned subsidiaries, The Weitz Company LLC and Contrack Watts, Inc. In recent developments, Orascom Construction has accelerated its strategic focus on sustainable energy, digital infrastructure, and large-scale regional transit networks. The company has advanced key execution phases in its landmark consortium partnership with Siemens Mobility and The Arab Contractors to build Egypt's 2,000-kilometer high-speed electrified railway network, while progressing the Cairo Monorail and major water sustainability initiatives such as the New Delta wastewater treatment megaproject. In the renewable energy sector, the group expanded its co-development and EPC footprint through the 500 MW Gulf of Suez wind farm consortium alongside ENGIE, Toyota Tsusho, and Eurus Energy, while advancing strategic alliances for green hydrogen and green ammonia production facilities. To address surging demand for artificial intelligence and cloud computing, the company has scaled its mission-critical and hyperscale data center construction operations across North America and the Middle East. Additionally, Orascom Construction has continued to strengthen its recurring revenue base by expanding its long-term operations and maintenance (O&M) and concessions portfolio, while maintaining disciplined capital allocation through active share repurchase initiatives on the Egyptian Exchange.
