Business
Amara Raja Energy & Mobility Limited (ARE&M.BO) manufactures lead-acid batteries for automotive and industrial applications; lithium-ion cells and battery packs; EV chargers; automotive and industrial lubricants; and power control products. The company, founded in 1985 and headquartered in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, India, operates eight advanced manufacturing facilities primarily in Andhra Pradesh and exports its products to over 60 countries across the Middle East, Asia, Africa, South East Asia, and Australia. It serves original equipment manufacturers including Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Tata Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra, Honda, Ford India, Ashok Leyland, and Bajaj Auto; supplies industrial batteries under brands such as PowerStack, AmaronVolt, Quanta, Amaron, and Powerzone to telecom, UPS, railways, power, oil & gas, defence, and motive power sectors; and pioneered valve-regulated lead-acid (VRLA) batteries in India. In June 2024, ARE&M signed a technical licensing agreement with Gotion High-Tech through its subsidiary for lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cell manufacturing technology and access to global supply chains to support its planned gigafactory in Telangana, India, and development of an LFP battery facility in Slovakia. The company rebranded from Amara Raja Batteries Limited in 2023 to reflect its strategic expansion into new energy solutions amid India's energy transition. ARE&M maintains a vast distribution network with over 100,000 points of sale, 1,000 retail stores, and 2,000 service hubs in India.
