Business
American Savings Bank, N.A. operates as a Hawaii-focused national banking association providing retail, small-business and commercial banking products and services. The Bank offers personal deposit products, including checking, savings, money market and certificate of deposit accounts; residential mortgage loans for home purchase and refinancing, including conforming, jumbo, VA, condominium, construction and vacant-land financing; home equity lines of credit; unsecured personal loans, clean-energy loans, credit-secured loans, credit cards and overdraft-protection services. It also provides debit-card services, including the Buy Local Hawaii program; online and mobile banking; bill payment; Zelle payments; automated clearing house transactions; domestic and international wire transfers; remote deposit capture; and ATM services. Investment-planning, retirement-planning, education-planning and insurance offerings, including life, long-term-care, accidental-death-and-dismemberment and hospital-accident-protection products, are delivered through third-party providers. For small businesses and commercial customers, American Savings Bank provides business checking, savings, money market and certificate of deposit accounts; secured and unsecured term loans and lines of credit; commercial real estate financing for retail, multifamily, mixed-use, industrial, hotel and office properties; commercial and industrial loans; and construction financing for commercial buildings and multifamily housing developments. Its business-services portfolio includes cash management and treasury-management solutions; ACH and wire-payment services; remote deposit capture; Positive Pay; zero-balance accounts and account sweeps; business and commercial credit cards; merchant acquiring services; foreign-exchange services; lockbox processing; and trade-finance services, including standby and commercial letters of credit. The Bank serves personal, small-business and commercial customers principally in Hawaii through 35 branches and more than 120 ATMs across Oahu, Maui, Hawaii Island, Kauai and Molokai, supported by digital banking channels; nearly all deposits and the substantial majority of loans are connected to the Hawaii market. Founded in 1925 and headquartered in Honolulu, Hawaii, American Savings Bank operates without a bank holding company and is regulated primarily by the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. The Bank served nearly 400,000 customers as of June 30, 2026. Recent strategic actions include the conversion of its charter from a federal savings bank to a national banking association effective January 1, 2026; 2025 balance-sheet initiatives comprising the sale of $735 million of investment securities and repayment of higher-cost Federal Home Loan Bank advances and brokered deposits; the sale of a mainland solar and home-improvement loan portfolio that did not fit its Hawaii-focused relationship-banking strategy; and the termination of frozen legacy defined-benefit pension plans. The Bank is also expanding its commercial banking emphasis while continuing to build its retail and small-business deposit franchise. In September 2026, American Savings Bank completed the pricing of an upsized initial public offering of 8,057,240 common shares at $16.00 per share, listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol ASBH; the offering consisted of secondary shares sold by existing stockholders, with no proceeds received by the Bank.
