Business
AST SpaceMobile, Inc. designs, manufactures and deploys a space-based cellular broadband network that connects directly to unmodified standard smartphones, delivering 4G and 5G services to eliminate coverage gaps for commercial and government applications; core offerings include the BlueBird satellite constellation featuring large low-Earth orbit satellites with phased-array antennas for voice calls, video streaming, broadband data and applications such as maritime, aviation, rural connectivity, emergency response, defense, and agricultural monitoring; the SpaceMobile service provides wholesale capacity to mobile network operators covering land, sea and air without specialized hardware or modifications. Founded in 2017 and headquartered in Midland, Texas, the company operates manufacturing facilities totaling nearly 500,000 square feet primarily in the U.S., with additional sites recently added in Texas and Florida to scale production; it maintains over 50 partnerships with global mobile network operators including AT&T, Verizon, Vodafone and stc Group, reaching nearly three billion potential subscribers, alongside government contracts such as a $43 million award from the U.S. Space Development Agency. Recent developments include a follow-on equity offering of approximately $24 million to support operations ahead of the BlueBird 6 satellite launch in December 2025, which features enhanced phased-array technology and greater data capacity; the company reaffirmed 2025 revenue guidance of $50 million to $75 million, secured over $1 billion in revenue pledges from partners, expanded its workforce to over 1,800 professionals, and achieved milestones such as first VoLTE calls with AT&T and Verizon networks in July 2025 and Canada's initial space-to-phone broadband connections in October 2025.
