Founded in 1984 as Atlantis Group, Inc. and renamed Atlantis Plastics, Inc. in 1992, the company is headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia. In 2008, Atlantis Plastics filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, sold its Plastic Films division to AEP Industries Inc. and its Molded Plastics division to Custom Plastic Solutions LLC (an affiliate of Monomoy Capital Partners), and underwent conversion to Chapter 7 liquidation, with the process finalized by October 2019; the entity's common stock (ATPL) trades on OTC Markets at a nominal market capitalization of approximately $1.65 thousand as of late 2025.
