Business
Prairie Lithium Limited Prairie Lithium Limited is an Australian-based lithium exploration and development company focused on the sustainable advancement of its flagship Prairie Lithium Project in the resource-rich Williston Basin of southeast Saskatchewan, Canada; the company explores and develops lithium brine deposits using direct lithium extraction (DLE) technology to produce concentrated lithium chloride for downstream refining into battery-grade lithium carbonate equivalent. Incorporated in 1969 and headquartered in West Perth, Australia, Prairie Lithium holds over 345,000 acres of subsurface permits in the Duperow Formation, containing an estimated 4.6 million tonnes of lithium carbonate equivalent (LCE) in measured and indicated resources, with operations targeting North American markets to support electric vehicle and energy storage supply chains through low-environmental-impact methods that minimize freshwater use, land disturbance, and waste. In recent developments, the company rebranded from Arizona Lithium Limited and changed its ASX ticker from AZL to PL9 in September 2025 to align with its primary asset; secured Saskatchewan Ministry of Energy and Resources approval for Phase 1 production in May 2025, marking it as the first lithium brine project in the province to achieve this milestone; signed a non-binding offtake letter of intent in October 2025 with Stardust Power for 6,000 tonnes per year of LCE in lithium chloride form starting potentially in 2027, to be shipped to their Oklahoma refinery; commenced construction in November 2025 on North America's largest planned DLE facility at Pad #1, with foundation completion targeted for Q1 2026 and four commercial-scale columns arriving by April 2026; and raised A$1.45 million via an at-the-market subscription with Acuity Capital in November 2025 to fund initial production at the Prairie Lithium Project.
