BAE Systems plc engages in the design, development, manufacture and support of advanced defense, aerospace and security solutions worldwide. The company provides military aircraft including the Eurofighter Typhoon, F-35 Lightning II components and Hawk trainers; combat vehicles such as the M2/M3 Bradley, Challenger 2, CV90 and M109 Paladin; naval platforms encompassing Astute-class and Dreadnought-class submarines, Type 26 frigates and Advanced Gun System; munitions and weaponry like the SA80 assault rifle, M777 howitzer and precision-guided systems; electronics and cybersecurity solutions including advanced avionics, intelligence systems, electronic warfare, night vision equipment and IT protection services; as well as space systems featuring spacecraft, mission payloads and optical systems. BAE Systems operates primarily in air, land, maritime, space and integrated systems segments, serving government and military customers across more than 40 countries with key markets in the UK, US, Saudi Arabia, Australia, Sweden, Canada, Japan, India, Turkey, Qatar, Oman and emerging presence in Ukraine. Founded in 1999 through the merger of British Aerospace and Marconi Electronic Systems, the company is headquartered at 6 Carlton Gardens in London, United Kingdom. In recent developments, BAE Systems completed its largest-ever acquisition of Ball Aerospace for $5.5 billion in February 2024, establishing the Space & Mission Systems division to bolster space capabilities; raised $4.8 billion in bond financing in March 2024 to fund the deal and refinance debt; agreed to form a joint venture with Leonardo SpA and Japan Aircraft Industrial Enhancement Co Ltd for the Global Combat Air Programme's next-generation combat aircraft; partnered with ASC Pty Ltd under AUKUS for Australia's SSN-AUKUS nuclear-powered submarines, including a November 2024 mobilization arrangement; launched Horizon Solutions aftermarket services in October 2025 for commercial avionics repair, overhauls and fleet enhancements; secured orders exceeding £27 billion year-to-date as of November 2025, including Bradley A4 production and CV90 vehicles; and acquired a manufacturing site in Ulverston, Cumbria, in October 2025.
