Business
Compañía Electro Metalúrgica S.A. is a Chile-based industrial manufacturer and global supplier of integrated wear solutions, steel castings, and grinding media primarily serving the mining, mineral processing, and industrial sectors, alongside diversified holdings in glass packaging and winemaking. The company operates principally through its metallurgical division, ME Elecmetal, offering an extensive range of specialized products and services, including forged and cast alloy steel grinding balls for semi-autogenous grinding (SAG) and ball mills; forged steel, cast alloy, rubber, and composite mill liners; crusher wear components, including mantles, bowl liners, concaves, jaw plates, and blow bars; ground engaging tools (GET), bucket protection parts, lip shrouds, and adapters for large-scale mining excavators; custom-engineered high-integrity industrial castings; 3D laser scanning and ultrasonic mill chamber wear profiling; discrete element method (DEM) and finite element analysis (FEA) simulation engineering; and comprehensive on-site technical consulting and scrap recycling programs. Through its affiliated packaging and agricultural subsidiaries, notably Cristalerías de Chile S.A. and Viña Santa Rita S.A., the company also manufactures glass containers for the food, beer, wine, and beverage industries, and produces premium varietal wines distributed globally. Founded in 1917 and headquartered in Santiago, Chile, the company maintains manufacturing foundries, processing plants, and distribution centers across Chile, the United States, China, Mexico, Peru, Australia, and South Africa. In recent operational developments, Compañía Electro Metalúrgica S.A. has expanded production capacity at its grinding media and casting facilities in North America and China to support increasing global copper and gold processing demand, introduced proprietary smart liner tracking systems incorporating industrial internet-of-things (IIoT) sensors for predictive maintenance, accelerated decarbonization initiatives through renewable power supply contracts across its global foundries, and strengthened collaborative long-term service agreements with Tier-1 mining operators to deliver customized life-of-asset wear optimization solutions.
