- Enaex S.A. is a Chile-based multinational chemical and mining services company primarily engaged in the production and supply of industrial ammonium nitrate, commercial explosives, and comprehensive rock fragmentation services for the global open-pit and underground mining, quarrying, and civil engineering industries. Founded in 1920 and headquartered in Las Condes, Santiago, Chile, the company operates as a key subsidiary of the industrial conglomerate Sigdo Koppers S.A. and trades publicly on the Santiago Stock Exchange under the ticker BCS:ENAEX. Enaex provides end-to-end blasting solutions through a comprehensive portfolio of products and specialized services, including: technical-grade and low-density industrial ammonium nitrate; nitric acid and chemical inputs; bulk emulsion explosives, heavy ANFO blends, packaged dynamites, watergels, and booster charges; initiation systems, including Davey Bickford electronic detonators, non-electric shock-tube systems, conventional electric detonators, and detonating cords; drilling and blasting consumables, including specialized blast bags, borehole liners, and fragmentation shields; computerized blast design, profiling, and rock fragmentation modeling using the proprietary O-Pitblast software suite; on-site mobile manufacturing units (MMUs) and automated borehole loading services; and advanced remote-handling technologies, such as the RoboMiner teleoperated robotic platform and the Mine-iTruck autonomous mobile mixing unit. The company maintains operational facilities and distribution channels across Latin America, North America, Europe, Africa, Australia, and Asia through subsidiaries and joint ventures such as Davey Bickford, Enaex Africa, Enaex Australia, Britanite, and MTi Group. In recent strategic developments, Enaex completed the 100% acquisition of Australia-based MTi Group for approximately 125 million Australian dollars, expanding its global footprint in blast consumables across Australia, the United States, China, and South Africa. Enaex also acquired a 45% equity interest in blasting software provider O-Pitblast to expand its digital optimization capabilities. In late 2024, Enaex entered into a strategic collaboration with mining equipment manufacturer Normet to introduce automated and teleoperated explosives-charging systems in underground mining, leading into live operational trials in 2025. In addition, the company continues the development of its HyEx green ammonia project in collaboration with ENGIE in Chile's Atacama Desert, an initiative designed to substitute fossil-fuel-based ammonia imports with green ammonia generated via solar power to decarbonize ammonium nitrate manufacturing.
