Empresas Hites S.A. is a Chile-based retail and financial services company engaged in the operation of department stores and the provision of consumer financial solutions. Founded in 1940 and headquartered in Santiago, Chile, the company operates primarily through two core business segments: Retail and Financial Services. In its Retail segment, Empresas Hites S.A. sells and distributes a comprehensive selection of merchandise through a nationwide network of physical department stores and its digital e-commerce platform, hites.com; product offerings include women's, men's, and children's apparel, footwear, and fashion accessories; consumer electronics, smartphones, computing devices, and audio-video systems; major home appliances and small kitchen appliances; furniture, mattresses, textiles, and home decor; sporting goods and toys; and beauty, cosmetics, personal care products, and fragrances. In its Financial Services segment, the company provides consumer credit and financial products designed primarily for middle-income consumer segments; services include the issuance and operation of proprietary and co-branded credit cards, including Tarjeta Hites and Tarjeta Hites Visa; consumer cash advance loans and personal financing; insurance brokerage and assistance plans, encompassing life, health, unemployment, fraud protection, and extended warranty policies; and electronic payment processing and account management services. In recent developments, Empresas Hites S.A. has advanced its omnichannel transformation by enhancing the technological capabilities and merchant assortment of its online marketplace, while streamlining logistics and click-and-collect fulfillment across its physical store footprint. The company has also expanded the adoption and merchant acceptance network of its open-loop Tarjeta Hites Visa card, established new commercial distribution partnerships for insurance and financial products, and implemented tightened credit risk underwriting models and debt restructuring strategies to improve credit portfolio quality and operational efficiency.
