- Brookfield Renewable Partners is a global owner, operator and developer of renewable power and sustainable solutions assets, and it provides clean energy and decarbonization solutions through hydroelectric, wind, solar, distributed energy, storage and other sustainable technologies. Founded in 1999 and headquartered in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, the company operates through a Bermuda-based limited partnership and a Canadian corporate structure, with its portfolio spanning North America, South America, Europe and Asia-Pacific.
The company’s core products and services include the ownership and operation of hydroelectric facilities; wind farms; utility-scale solar projects; distributed generation and behind-the-meter power solutions; battery storage and pumped storage assets; and sustainable solutions businesses that include nuclear services through Westinghouse, renewable natural gas, carbon capture and storage, materials recycling and eFuels development. Brookfield Renewable also develops, acquires, finances and manages power and transition assets directly and alongside institutional and joint-venture partners, leveraging long-term contracting, asset optimization and capital recycling to grow cash flows.
As of year-end 2025, Brookfield Renewable reported approximately 47,200 MW of operating capacity, more than 200 GW of development pipeline, about 6,000 operating employees and roughly US$147 billion of assets under management, with renewables comprising the vast majority of its operating fleet. Its operating portfolio is diversified across hydroelectric, wind, utility-scale solar, distributed energy and storage, while its sustainable solutions portfolio includes investments in Westinghouse, a utility and independent power producer in the Caribbean and Latin America, and other emerging decarbonization businesses.
Recent strategic changes have been significant and include the July 2026 announcement that Brookfield Renewable plans to simplify its corporate structure by combining BEP and BEPC into a single publicly traded Canadian corporation, Brookfield Renewable Partners Inc., subject to securityholder approvals and other closing conditions. The company also highlighted a first-of-its-kind Hydro Framework Agreement with Google to deliver up to 3,000 MW of hydro capacity, a planned acquisition of Aypa Power to expand its battery storage platform, a partnership involving Westinghouse with the U.S. Government for new nuclear reactors, and the completion of the Boralex acquisition with La Caisse.
