Business
Izmir Demir Celik Sanayi A.S. is a Turkey-based industrial manufacturing, energy, and logistics enterprise primarily engaged in the production and distribution of long steel products, electric power generation, and commercial port operations. Founded in 1975 and headquartered in Izmir, Turkey, the company operates electric arc furnace (EAF) steel meltshops and continuous rolling mill facilities situated in the Aliaga industrial district. The company organizes its core business into three main segments: Steel Manufacturing, Energy Generation, and Port Management. Within its steel operations, the company manufactures, processes, and markets a broad range of finished and semi-finished long steel products, including continuous casting steel billets; plain and deformed reinforcing steel bars (rebar) for construction and civil engineering; high-tensile wire rods; hot-rolled merchant bars comprising equal angles, flat bars, round bars, and square bars; structural section profiles including IPE, IPN, UPE, and UPN beams; and customized cut-and-bend steel components. Through its power generation subsidiary, Izdemir Enerji Elektrik Uretim A.S., the company operates an advanced thermal power plant and solar generation assets to supply electricity to the national grid and industrial consumers. Through its maritime logistics subsidiary, IDC Liman Isletmeleri A.S., the company manages deep-water port facilities in Nemrut Bay, providing stevedoring and cargo handling for bulk commodities, general cargo, and scrap metal; container terminal services; indoor and outdoor bonded warehousing; and comprehensive marine services, including pilotage, tugboat assistance, and mooring. Izmir Demir Celik Sanayi A.S. supplies domestic industrial and construction sectors across Turkey and exports steel products to international markets across Europe, the Middle East, the Americas, and Africa. In recent strategic and operational developments, the company executed the public listing of its power subsidiary, Izdemir Enerji, on Borsa Istanbul to optimize capital structure and accelerate clean energy growth. Furthermore, the company has accelerated investments in renewable photovoltaic solar power (GES) plants to increase captive self-consumption, advanced decarbonization and energy efficiency retrofits across its Aliaga steelmaking facilities, and expanded handling capacity and berth infrastructure at its Nemrut Bay port terminal to serve growing third-party vessel traffic and heavy industrial cargo flows.
