BNY Mellon Core Bond ETF (BKAG) is an exchange-traded fund that seeks to match the performance of the Bloomberg U.S. Aggregate Total Return Index, providing investors with broad exposure to the U.S. investment-grade, dollar-denominated, fixed-rate taxable bond market. The fund invests substantially all of its assets in bonds comprising the index, including U.S. Treasuries; government-related and corporate securities; mortgage-backed pass-through securities such as agency fixed-rate obligations from Fannie Mae (FNMA), Freddie Mac (FHLMC), and Ginnie Mae (GNMA); commercial mortgage-backed securities (agency and non-agency); and other asset-backed securities with at least one year to final maturity; all rated investment grade (Baa3/BBB-/BBB- or higher based on the middle rating from Moody's, S&P, and Fitch). It employs a passively managed, fully transparent, low-cost index approach with a 0.00% net expense ratio, high liquidity during stock market hours, and monthly dividend distributions targeted at individual and institutional fixed-income investors seeking current income and diversification.
Launched on April 22, 2020, and headquartered in New York with The Bank of New York Mellon Corporation as the sponsor through BNY Mellon ETF Investment Adviser, LLC and Mellon Investments Corporation as sub-adviser, BKAG operates primarily in U.S. markets with approximately $2 billion in assets under management as of late 2025 and over 2,500 holdings.
Recent developments include the appointment of Marlene Walker Smith as co-primary portfolio manager alongside Gregg A. Lee in June 2025, enhancing management expertise with her background since 1995 at Mellon Investments Corporation; sustained zero expense ratio without waivers; and robust institutional interest evidenced by new stakes and increases from firms such as Cetera Investment Advisers (up 2.5% in Q2 2025), Key Financial Inc., Empower Advisory Group, Trajan Wealth LLC, Renasant Bank, and Stratos Wealth Partners (up 52.9% in Q2 2025).
