Business
Blade Air Mobility, Inc. (BLDEW) operates as a technology-powered air mobility platform focused on medical logistics and organ transportation services for the U.S. healthcare industry; it provides time-critical air and ground transport, surgical organ recovery, organ placement, and normothermic regional perfusion, alongside perfusion staffing and equipment solutions under the Trinity Medical Solutions and Keystone Perfusion brands. The company maintains an asset-light model through partnerships with vetted third-party aircraft operators, utilizing helicopters, seaplanes, fixed-wing aircraft, jets, and short-distance charters primarily for MediMobility organ transport and passenger shuttles; core offerings encompass scheduled shuttle routes from urban hubs like New York to destinations including the Hamptons, Miami, Boston, California, and resort areas, on-demand charters for leisure, corporate, and events, and one of the world's largest networks for human organ transplants serving hospitals and procurement organizations across the United States. Founded in 2014 and headquartered at 31 Hudson Yards in New York City, Blade conducts operations in the U.S., Canada, Southern Europe (including Monaco, Nice, Cannes, Saint-Tropez, Courchevel, Geneva, and Milan), and India, targeting affluent leisure travelers, business commuters, and critical medical clients with proprietary technology for booking, dynamic pricing, real-time tracking, and exclusive passenger lounges. In August 2025, Blade completes the sale of its passenger division to Joby Aviation for up to $125 million in cash or stock, retaining and rebranding its medical segment as Strata Critical Medical, Inc. (ticker SRTA) to concentrate on transplant logistics and high-value mission-critical services while partnering with Joby for future medical transport integration and eVTOL transition. This strategic divestiture enhances focus on the growing MediMobility organ transport business, which generated $81.1 million in revenue for the first half of 2025, amid ongoing investments in aircraft, software development, and Adjusted EBITDA performance targets tied to executive incentives.
