Business
SonicShares Global Shipping ETF (NYSE Arca: BOAT) is an exchange-traded fund that provides pure-play exposure to the global maritime shipping industry by seeking to track the performance, before fees and expenses, of the Solactive Global Shipping Index. The ETF holds a diversified portfolio of mid-to-large capitalization companies deriving at least 50% of their revenue from maritime shipping activities, including container shipping; dry bulk carriers; tankers for crude oil, petroleum products, and liquefied natural gas; vehicle transport; and other specialized maritime transportation of goods and raw materials such as consumer products, industrial goods, and vehicles. Top holdings include A.P. Møller - Mærsk A/S, SITC International Holdings Company Limited, COSCO SHIPPING Holdings Co., Ltd., Orient Overseas (International) Limited, and Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd., among over 50 global constituents listed on exchanges in developed markets. Launched in August 2021 and issued through Tidal ETF Trust II by SonicShares, a thematic ETF provider based in Middletown, Delaware, BOAT targets investors seeking to capitalize on global trade dynamics and economic recovery trends, with assets under management of approximately $43 million and operations focused on publicly traded shipping equities worldwide. In recent developments, the ETF has maintained steady portfolio management amid volatile shipping rates, with updated holdings and performance disclosures through 2025 reflecting ongoing market exposure without major structural changes, partnerships, acquisitions, or new product launches reported in the last two years.
