Ellenbarrie serves diverse industries including steel, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, shipbuilding, glass manufacturing, welding, fabrication, healthcare, railways, aviation, aerospace, defense, petrochemicals, power, energy, metal production, animal husbandry and electronics, with a strong presence in East and South India, particularly as market leader in West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana; it maintains dedicated plants for pipeline, merchant liquid and cylinder filling delivery systems, supported by one of India's largest fleets of cryogenic transport tankers and cylinders. Founded in 1973 and headquartered in Kolkata, West Bengal, the company operates manufacturing facilities in West Bengal (Kalyani, Uluberia, Kharagpur, Panagarh), Andhra Pradesh (Visakhapatnam, Kurnool expansion) and Telangana (Hyderabad), with pan-India distribution and a highly diversified customer base featuring one of the highest customer counts among peers. In recent developments, promoters re-acquired 51% stake from Japan's Air Water Inc. in August 2021, establishing full Indian ownership and enabling debt-free status, a greenfield high-purity hydrogen electrolyzer plant in Uluberia (the first in Eastern India) and a major 600 MT per day expansion in Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh; the board approved acquisition of Truair Industrial Gases' Bengaluru manufacturing facilities in August 2025 for INR 54 million on a slump sale basis to support pan-India growth.
