Graphite India Limited is a pioneer Indian manufacturer specializing in graphite electrodes and carbon and graphite specialty products. The company also engages in electric energy generation through hydropower facilities. Recent strategic developments include a 31% acquisition stake in GODI India, a battery technology company, to expand into advanced battery and storage system technologies. Graphite India is also investing in a U.S.-based company for graphene sheet production and battery chemical technologies, positioning itself for growth in next-generation energy storage solutions. In 2024, the company commissioned an expansion of its Impervious Graphite Equipment (IGE) production capacity at its Gonde plant to serve larger domestic and export markets. Additionally, it is advancing a captive power generation facility expected to enhance energy cost savings and lower carbon emissions. These moves reflect the company's focus on vertical integration, technological innovation, sustainability, and market expansion within India and globally. Graphite India reported consolidated net sales of approximately Rs. 2,950 crore for fiscal year 2024, underlining its financial and operational resilience in a growing sector driven by global steel demand and decarbonization efforts.
