Business
Meenakshi India Limited is an India-based apparel manufacturing and export company specializing in the design, development, and production of woven garments and customized garment solutions. Founded in 1982 and headquartered in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, the company serves as the flagship entity of the Meenakshi Group (MIL Group) and operates as a government-recognized Star Export House. The company operates composite manufacturing facilities located in Salem, Tamil Nadu, delivering an integrated suite of apparel products and contract manufacturing services, which includes: woven bottomwear, comprising casual chinos, utility cargo pants, formal trousers, Bermuda shorts, and lifestyle shorts; woven outerwear, comprising bomber jackets, parkas, quilted jackets, utility overshirts, and windcheaters; full-package Cut, Make, and Pack (CMP) apparel production; computerized embroidery; industrial garment washing and wet processing, including enzyme, softener, acid, bleach, rubber ball, and specialty denim washes; dry processing and decorative finishes, including hand scraping, grinding, nicking, whiskering, and localized tacking; and proprietary direct-to-consumer (D2C) casual wear retailed under its homegrown brand, SHORTSTOP. Meenakshi India supplies global fashion brands, private labels, and retail chains across North America, Europe, and the United Kingdom, alongside distributing within the domestic Indian market. In recent developments, the company listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE: 544831 / MEEIND), expanded its manufacturing capabilities to achieve a monthly production capacity of approximately 240,000 garments, diversified from pure-play contract manufacturing into brand ownership via the commercial launch of its D2C apparel brand SHORTSTOP, and approved an equity share sub-division (stock split) to enhance market liquidity and expand its shareholder base. Beyond its core apparel business, the broader Meenakshi Group maintains diversified commercial interests across steel fabrication, power generation, agricultural plantations, industrial warehousing, and education.
