Business
Nilachal Carbo Metalicks Limited is an India-based industrial manufacturing company primarily engaged in the production, processing, and distribution of refractory products, carbon materials, and specialized metallurgical consumables. The company operates through its Refractories and Industrial Minerals segments, catering extensively to high-temperature processing industries such as iron and steel manufacturing, cement production, glass making, non-ferrous metallurgy, and petrochemical refining. Its core product portfolio includes shaped refractories such as magnesia-carbon bricks, high-alumina bricks, fireclay bricks, zircon and zirconia-mullite bricks, and chemically bonded basic bricks; unshaped and monolithic refractory formulations, including dense castables, insulating castables, gunning mixes, ramming masses, and high-temperature refractory mortars; flow control and continuous casting refractories, encompassing slide gate plates, well blocks, porous plugs, submerged entry nozzles, and tundish nozzles; and carbon-based metallurgical consumables, including carbon raisers, calcined petroleum coke blends, and graphite additives used in electric arc and induction furnaces. In addition to material manufacturing, the company provides technical refractory engineering services, including refractory lining design, installation supervision, lining maintenance, and thermal management consulting for ladles, blast furnaces, converters, reheating furnaces, and rotary kilns. Founded in 1977 and headquartered in Kolkata, West Bengal, India, Nilachal Carbo Metalicks Limited maintains manufacturing operations and testing facilities situated in the industrial corridor of Odisha, serving integrated steel producers, secondary steelmakers, and metallurgical foundries across domestic Indian markets and regional export channels. In recent corporate developments, the company has undertaken comprehensive operational restructuring and capital reorganization initiatives aimed at enhancing manufacturing efficiency and restoring full operational capacity across its production lines. To align with increasing demand from domestic infrastructure and steel capacity expansions, the company has upgraded its production equipment with high-pressure automated hydraulic presses and precision kilns, launched advanced corrosion-resistant magnesia-carbon formulations tailored for secondary metallurgy processes, expanded long-term supply arrangements with key integrated steel manufacturing enterprises, and restructured its executive leadership to improve governance, supply-chain resilience, and working capital optimization.
