- Bulgarian Stock Exchange AD is a financial market infrastructure operator that organizes and operates the regulated securities exchange in the Republic of Bulgaria. Founded in 1991 and headquartered in Sofia, Bulgaria, the company provides organized trading platforms, listing solutions, market data distribution, and capital-raising services for domestic and international issuers, institutional investors, and retail market participants. The exchange organizes trading across three principal venues: the BSE Main Market for listed equities, corporate and municipal bonds, exchange-traded funds (ETFs), warrants, subscription rights, and government securities; the beam Market (Bulgarian Growth Market), a multilateral trading facility dedicated to financing small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and high-growth technology companies under simplified admission rules; and the BSE International segment, which provides domestic market participants with direct trading access to international blue-chip shares and global ETFs denominated in euros and settled via international central securities depositories. The company's core products and services include listing and admission to trading services for equities, sovereign and corporate debt instruments, collective investment schemes, and structured financial instruments; electronic order matching and trading execution infrastructure powered by Deutsche Börse's T7 trading architecture; market data dissemination and information feeds, encompassing real-time, delayed, end-of-day, and historical data packages; the calculation, administration, and licensing of national benchmark equity indices, including the SOFIX blue-chip index, BGBX 40, BG TR30, and BG REIT; issuer disclosure dissemination and regulatory reporting systems operated through the Extri.bg corporate disclosure platform; digital corporate sustainability assessment and carbon footprint calculation tools via the Oxygen ESG platform; and financial market technology, registry connectivity, and data analytics services delivered through its wholly owned subsidiary, Financial Market Services EOOD, in cooperation with Central Depository AD.
In recent operational and strategic developments, Bulgarian Stock Exchange AD has introduced key initiatives to enhance capital market liquidity, regional integration, and sustainability. The exchange expanded its SME growth ecosystem through the launch of specialized financing initiatives on the beam market, including the introduction of beam green to channel capital into sustainable and environmental projects. To address rising European non-financial reporting requirements, the company upgraded and expanded the Oxygen ESG platform, enabling listed and non-listed enterprises to measure Scope 1, 2, and 3 greenhouse gas emissions and generate standardized sustainability reports. Furthermore, the exchange partnered with the Ministry of Finance to establish a dedicated secondary trading mechanism for retail-targeted government bonds, broadening retail investor participation in sovereign debt markets. Operationally, the company upgraded its primary trading environment to the latest Deutsche Börse T7 platform release, advanced post-trade and clearing connectivity across Southeastern Europe via regional exchange networks, and formed strategic alliances with banking institutions and brokerages to streamline primary market issuance and digital investor onboarding.
