Invesco BulletShares 2023 High Yield Corporate Bond ETF (BSJN) is an exchange-traded fund that seeks to track the performance, before fees and expenses, of the Nasdaq BulletShares USD High Yield Corporate Bond 2023 Index. The fund invests at least 80% of its total assets in U.S. dollar-denominated high yield corporate bonds that have effective maturities in 2023, including securities rated between BB+/Ba1 or lower and CCC-/Caa3 or higher by S&P, Fitch or Moody's; it employs a sampling methodology rather than holding all index securities and rebalances monthly. Launched on October 7, 2015, and managed by Invesco Capital Management LLC, a subsidiary of Invesco Ltd., the ETF targets institutional and retail investors seeking targeted high yield fixed income exposure with a defined maturity profile, primarily in North American developed markets.
BSJN provides investors with the benefits of ETF liquidity, transparency and cost efficiency alongside bond-like characteristics, including potential monthly income distributions and a final cash payout upon termination; as of late 2025, its holdings consist predominantly of cash (100%) in preparation for wind-down, reflecting its ultra-short term high yield corporate bond niche. With assets under management of approximately $407 million, a net expense ratio of 0.42% and a dividend yield around 5.11%, the fund maintains operations on the Nasdaq exchange despite its matured target year.
The ETF operates under Invesco Ltd. (founded 1935; headquartered at 1331 Spring Street NW, Atlanta, Georgia), a global investment manager with over $1.5 trillion in assets across ETFs, mutual funds and other products in more than 20 countries. Invesco's BulletShares suite encompasses defined-maturity strategies across investment-grade corporate, high yield corporate and municipal bonds.
In line with its designed term structure, BSJN reached its designated maturity year of 2023 and was scheduled to terminate on or about December 31, 2023, with subsequent transition to cash holdings; no active trading or new bond purchases occur post-maturity. Invesco continues to expand the BulletShares lineup, launching new high yield and other fixed income maturities in 2024 and 2025 (e.g., 2031 and 2033 high yield corporate bond ETFs) to replace maturing funds and capture elevated yields in underserved fixed income segments; recent ETF changes in January 2024 affected other Invesco products but not BSJN directly. Invesco Ltd. reported ongoing ETF innovation, including active ETF growth to 31 products by mid-2025 and thematic launches, amid stable operations for legacy BulletShares funds.
