Orygen Peru S.A.A., formerly known as Enel Generación Perú S.A.A., is an electric power generation and commercialization company operating in Peru. The company produces, transmits, and distributes electricity to the National Interconnected Electric System (SEIN) through a diversified portfolio of hydroelectric, thermal, and non-conventional renewable energy facilities. Its core products and services include the generation of electrical power through reservoir and run-of-river hydroelectric stations, natural gas-fired combined-cycle thermal plants, utility-scale solar photovoltaic plants, and onshore wind farms; the commercialization and supply of electric energy and capacity through long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs) and bilateral contracts tailored to regulated distribution concessionaires and unregulated industrial, commercial, and mining customers; the provision of system reliability and ancillary grid services, including primary and secondary frequency regulation, voltage control, and cold and spinning capacity reserves; and the structuring of decarbonization solutions, such as International Renewable Energy Certificates (I-RECs) and energy efficiency advisory services. The company's generation infrastructure spans multiple regions in Peru and includes major assets such as the Huinco, Matucana, Callahuanca, Moyopampa, Yanango, and Chimay hydroelectric plants; the Santa Rosa and Ventanilla thermal generation complexes; the Rubí and Clemesí solar power plants; and the Wayra I and Wayra Extensión wind facilities. Founded in 1994 and headquartered in Lima, Peru, the company was initially established as Edegel S.A.A. following the privatization and restructuring of the state electric enterprise Electrolima. In 2024, the company underwent a major corporate reorganization and rebranding to Orygen Peru S.A.A. following the acquisition of Enel S.p.A.'s Peruvian power generation portfolio by global sustainable infrastructure investment manager Actis, through its acquisition vehicle Niagara Energy S.A.C. Under this new ownership structure, the company operates as an independent power producer focused on accelerating energy transition investments, integrating hybrid renewable generation technologies, and expanding clean energy supply across the Peruvian market.
