Business
Empresa Agroindustrial Pomalca S.A.A. is a Peru-based agribusiness enterprise primarily engaged in the cultivation, industrial processing, and commercialization of sugarcane and related agricultural derivatives. Tracing its agricultural origins to 1869 and incorporated in its modern corporate form in 1993, the company is headquartered in Pomalca, Chiclayo, in the Lambayeque Region of northwestern Peru, with its equity listed on the Bolsa de Valores de Lima under the ticker symbol POMALCC1. The company operates vertically integrated farming and milling facilities across thousands of cultivated hectares in the Chancay-Lambayeque valley, serving domestic consumer and commercial food manufacturing industries as well as selective export markets. Empresa Agroindustrial Pomalca S.A.A. organizes its operations into agricultural production, industrial refining, and commercialization activities, offering a diversified portfolio that includes refined white sugar and standard brown sugar marketed under the proprietary Pomalca brand; sugarcane byproducts including industrial molasses for livestock feed and fermentation processes; bagasse for bioenergy generation and industrial boiler fuel; neutral and industrial-grade ethanol and ethyl alcohol for chemical and pharmaceutical applications; contract cane harvesting and industrial toll-milling services for third-party growers; non-traditional export crops including paprika, jalapeño, and habanero peppers; and agricultural real estate management and rural land development services. In recent strategic and operational developments, Empresa Agroindustrial Pomalca S.A.A. has executed major capital expenditure programs focused on water conservation and climate adaptation, including the commissioning of a 33,000-cubic-meter water storage reservoir, extensive lining of primary irrigation canals with synthetic geomembranes, and the modernization of deep-well submersible pumping infrastructure across its agricultural units. The company has driven a substantial operational recovery following regional weather disruptions, lifting harvested sugarcane processing volumes above 870,000 metric tons. In addition, the enterprise established a strategic biotechnology alliance with the CHINECAS Special Project to source and cultivate in-vitro micropropagated sugarcane seedlings, targeting genetic enhancement, disease resistance, and increased sugar yields per hectare.
