Business
Calamos Bitcoin Structured Alt Protection ETF – October (CBOO) is a U.S.-listed exchange-traded fund managed by Calamos Investments LLC that seeks, before fees and expenses, to track the positive price return of the CME CF Bitcoin Reference Rate – New York Variant, which measures spot Bitcoin, up to a predetermined upside cap while providing 100% protection against negative Bitcoin price returns over a defined one-year outcome period. The fund provides investors with a risk-managed Bitcoin-exposure strategy through an options-based structured-protection ETF format; its principal offering is participation in Bitcoin appreciation up to the applicable cap, coupled with specified capital protection at the end of each outcome period, subject to fund expenses, brokerage costs, taxes and extraordinary expenses. CBOO commenced operations and was listed on Cboe BZX in October 2025; its initial outcome period runs from October 7, 2025 through October 6, 2026, with an initial gross upside cap of 8.47%, a net cap of 7.78% after the 0.69% total annual operating expense ratio, and 100% gross downside protection, or 99.31% after fund expenses. The fund is intended for financial advisers, individual investors and institutional investors seeking defined-risk exposure to spot Bitcoin rather than direct ownership of the digital asset. CBOO is part of the Calamos ETF Trust and Calamos Investments’ Structured Alt Protection ETF franchise, which also provides structured exposure to Bitcoin, the S&P 500, Nasdaq-100 and Russell 2000 across varying downside-protection levels and outcome periods. Calamos Investments, founded in 1977 and headquartered in the Chicago metropolitan area, is an alternatives-focused investment manager offering mutual funds, ETFs, interval funds and separately managed strategies spanning convertible securities, global equities, fixed income, private credit, private equity, hedged strategies, market-neutral income, autocallable strategies and risk-managed equity and digital-asset exposure. Recent strategic developments include Calamos’ October 2025 launch of CBOO alongside the Calamos Bitcoin 90 Series Structured Alt Protection ETF – October and Calamos Bitcoin 80 Series Structured Alt Protection ETF – October, expanding its defined-outcome ETF platform into Bitcoin; the subsequent launch of laddered Bitcoin structured-protection ETFs designed to provide continuous exposure through portfolios of monthly Bitcoin-protection funds; and the continued expansion of its structured-protection ETF lineup, including additional Bitcoin protection levels and equity-index-based products.
