Business
Constellation Energy Corporation is a producer and supplier of electricity, natural gas, and energy-related products and sustainable solutions, serving distribution utilities, municipalities, cooperatives, and commercial, industrial, public sector, and residential customers across the United States. Founded in 2021 and headquartered in Baltimore, Maryland, the company operates through Mid-Atlantic, Midwest, New York, ERCOT, and Other Power Regions, and its portfolio includes nuclear, natural gas, geothermal, hydro, wind, solar, and other generating assets. In January 2026, Constellation completed its acquisition of Calpine Corporation, a transformational transaction that expanded its generation and retail footprint and brought together Constellation’s nuclear fleet with Calpine’s natural gas and geothermal operations to create one of the largest power producers in the country. The combined company also entered into strategic customer agreements, including a 20-year power purchase agreement with Meta in June 2025 for output from the Clinton Clean Energy Center, and it announced in March 2026 an agreement to sell certain PJM generation assets to LS Power to satisfy regulatory commitments tied to the Calpine deal. Constellation describes itself as the nation’s largest producer of clean, reliable energy and the largest private-sector power producer in the world, with approximately 55 GW of generating capacity after the Calpine acquisition.
