- Global X MSCI China Utilities ETF (CHIU) seeks to provide investment results that correspond generally to the price and yield performance, before fees and expenses, of the MSCI China Utilities 10/50 Index. The fund invests in public equity markets of China, tracking large- and mid-capitalization segments of securities classified in the utilities sector per the Global Industry Classification Standard (GICS); it incorporates all eligible securities as per MSCI's Global Investable Market Index Methodology, including China A, B and H shares, Red chips, P chips and foreign listings such as American Depository Receipts, while applying a 10/50 concentration constraint that caps the weight of each group entity at 10% and the cumulative weight of all group entities exceeding 5% at no more than 50% of the index. Launched on December 7, 2018 by Global X Management Company LLC, a New York-based provider of exchange-traded funds headquartered at 605 Third Avenue, 43rd Floor, New York, NY, and domiciled in the United States, the ETF targets investors seeking exposure to Chinese utilities companies operating in electric, gas and water utilities subsectors. Global X Management Company LLC, founded in 2008 as part of Mirae Asset Financial Group, offers a broad lineup of over 90 ETFs spanning disruptive technology, equity income, commodities and emerging markets. In a significant operational change, CHIU was liquidated and delisted, with trading ceasing at the end of February 16, 2024, following a decision by the Board of Trustees on January 19, 2024, as part of Global X's ongoing review to align its product lineup with client needs; this closure was among 19 underperforming ETFs representing less than 1% of Global X's total assets, reflecting broader portfolio rationalization efforts amid low assets under management for niche China-focused funds. More recently, Global X has expanded through new product launches, including the Global X AI Semiconductor & Quantum ETF (CHPX) in October 2025 to capture AI-driven semiconductor and quantum technologies, and four Canadian ETFs in October 2025 offering exposure to China's Hang Seng TECH Index, silver bullion covered calls and U.S. Treasury strategies, alongside ongoing ETF closures and share consolidations in 2025 to optimize its platform exceeding $60 billion in assets under management. Post-liquidation, CHIU holdings reflect 100% cash allocation with no active equity positions.
