- NYLI Cleaner Transport ETF (CLNR), formerly known as IQ Cleaner Transport ETF, operates as a passively managed exchange-traded fund that seeks to track the performance, before fees and expenses, of the IQ Candriam Cleaner Transport Index. The fund provides exposure to global companies supporting the transition to sustainable and efficient transportation technologies, including electric vehicles, bicycles, motor vehicle parts, multi-passenger transportation services, clean energy resources, efficiency-enhancing software and hardware, and related infrastructure components; it applies geographic, ESG screens, and market-cap weighting while excluding firms involved in adult content, alcohol, armaments, gambling, nuclear power, tobacco, animal testing, or genetic modification. Launched on October 21, 2021, and headquartered in the United States under the management of New York Life Investment Management LLC (NYLIM), part of New York Life Investments, CLNR targets investors seeking thematic ESG investments in industrials, consumer discretionary, information technology, utilities, and energy sectors across diversified market capitalizations, with key holdings such as NextEra Energy Inc., Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co., Iberdrola SA, Toyota Motor Corp., and Texas Instruments Inc.; operations span regions including the United States (34.25%), Japan, Germany, Taiwan, France, and China. In alignment with the National Wildlife Federation since inception, NYLIM and IndexIQ Advisors LLC contribute a portion of the fund's 0.45% management fee (after waivers) to support NWF's climate initiatives, with minimum annual donations of $30,000 through 2025. In late 2024, New York Life Investments announced the strategic decision to liquidate CLNR, alongside the NYLI Clean Oceans ETF, with the process culminating in the fund ceasing operations by April 2025 amid low assets under management of approximately $4.6-5.8 million.
