Business
Sprott Copper Miners ETF (Nasdaq: COPP) is an exchange-traded fund that provides pure-play exposure to large-, mid- and small-cap copper miners, developers, explorers, and physical copper holdings. The ETF seeks to correspond to the total return performance of the Nasdaq Sprott Copper Miners™ Index (NSCOPP™), which tracks global securities in the copper industry, including leading holdings such as Freeport-McMoRan Inc., Antofagasta PLC, Teck Resources Ltd., Lundin Mining Corp., KGHM Polska Miedz SA, Hudbay Minerals Inc., First Quantum Minerals Ltd., and Southern Copper Corp.; it also allocates to physical copper via Sprott Physical Copper Trust (COP.UN) and maintains a diversified portfolio of approximately 53 holdings across copper equities (94.70%), physical copper (4.35%), and other equities (0.95%). Launched on March 5, 2024, the ETF is managed by Sprott Asset Management USA, Inc., based in Darien, Connecticut, with sub-adviser ALPS Advisors, Inc. in Denver, Colorado, and operates globally with investments in issuers from North America, South America, Europe, Asia, and Australia. In a significant strategic enhancement, COPP added a physical copper allocation beginning June 23, 2025, broadening its exposure beyond pure equity holdings to include direct commodity investment via Sprott Physical Copper Trust, positioning the fund to better capture copper supply-demand dynamics amid rising energy transition demands. The ETF, part of Sprott Inc.'s broader suite of precious metals and critical materials strategies, benefits from the parent firm's expertise since its founding in 1981, with approximately US$49 billion in assets under management as of September 30, 2025. As of December 16, 2025, COPP maintains total net assets of $73.08 million, a net expense ratio of 0.65%, and trades on Nasdaq with semi-annual index rebalances in June and December.
