Capital & Regional Plc (CRPLF) is a United Kingdom-based real estate investment trust (REIT) specializing in the ownership, management and development of community shopping centres; it operates a portfolio of seven key assets in Blackburn, Hemel Hempstead, Ilford, Luton, Maidstone, Walthamstow and Wood Green, delivering retail spaces focused on essential goods, services and local community needs through in-house property and asset management expertise. Founded in 1978 and headquartered at 89 Whitfield Street in London, the company targets UK retail property segments with approximately 523 commercial premises across 218,786 square metres of leasable area valued at GBP 322.7 million as of late 2023, serving diverse tenants including major retailers and independent operators in dominant in-town locations that attract millions of weekly visitors. In December 2024, Capital & Regional completed its acquisition by NewRiver REIT Plc for GBP 147 million via a cash and shares deal, integrating its portfolio into a combined GBP 2.4 billion retail asset group spanning 47 properties across the UK and Northern Ireland; this followed a scheme of arrangement approved in late 2024, alongside board changes including multiple director terminations on December 10, 2024 and new appointments, registered office relocation to its current London address on January 28, 2025, and an extension of its accounting period to March 31, 2025.
